Tips for Keeping the Air Conditioning System Working

Jessie Bell

Air conditioning is something that may not be appreciated until it is taken away. It can be pretty brutal trying to stay cool in a hot summer in a home without air conditioning. However, there are things that can occur that can really damage and render a air conditioning unit useless.

In order to keep your unit functioning properly you will need to make sure that it is properly maintained. There are a few different things that you can do that will help you keep the air conditioning unit running to full capacity. Here are just a few of those things that you can do to help keep your air conditioning unit up and running properly.

Clean the Unit

When you are outside take a look at your unit. The first thing that you are going to want to do is to clean the debris fro around the unit. Make sure that there is nothing that is even touching the unit. You will then want to open it up and clean the debris from inside the unit. You are going to want to make sure that the unit is completely clean. It is even good to get a vacuum and clean the dust and other debris from the inside of the unit.

Level Your Unit

It is also going to be very important that you keep your unit completely level. Refrigerant travels with the lubricating oil through an air conditioning system. When the outside unit is not level the oil can separate and the compressor may operate while not having enough lubrication. If the air conditioning unit does not have enough oil or lubrication then you may find that your compressor will break down much more quickly than it should. If you find that your unit is out of level be sure that you correct it.

Maintain Evaporator Coils

The evaporator coils in the unit also need to be cleaned. The evaporator coils will be inside. You will want to make sure that you are using spray that is designed specifically for evaporator coils. When you spray there is going to be a lot of run off. you will want to clean this up, and you will also want to put a cap on the drainage pipe. This is going to allow your air conditioning unit to stay in working condition. The evaporator coil is where the cool air is generated, and if it is not clean, then the entire system is not going to work properly.

When I started looking for someone to build my dream home, I realized that I was going to need to be very picky about how I wanted things to proceed. Instead of just choosing anyone to do the work, I started realizing that I needed to work harder to find the perfect team of experts. I started looking everywhere for just the right people, and I was really impressed with one team that stood out to me. They built an absolutely breathtaking home for us, and I know that it might not have worked out that way had we worked with different people. This blog is all about interviewing contractors.
