Tips For Summer Seal Coating

Jessie Bell

If you are a homeowner, you probably want to be absolutely sure that your guests and members of your family are able to get in and out of the driveway without too much difficulty. This allows you to ensure that there is no problem with vehicles. However, if you have cracked pavement, you are increasing the danger of your driveway. One way to avoid cracked pavement is through sealcoating, or adding a protective layer to the pavement to hold it together and repel water that could possibly get inside the pavement and expand when it freezes, forcing the pavement apart and making cracks wider. However, the last thing that you want to do is try to sealcoat during the winter. Sealcoating in the summer is also not as pleasant because it is very hot outside. However, if you don't have time during the spring or fall, here are some tips for sealcoating during the summer so that the process goes as smoothly as possible.

1. Wait for Low Humidity

The first thing that you want to do is take advantage of the summer's heat, which will allow the coating to dry faster and decrease the chances that it is accidentally damaged. However, if you try to perform sealcoating on a day that is humid, the summer heat will not be useful to you because the air will already be relatively saturated. If you wait for a day with low humidity, you can ensure that your sealcoating will dry as quickly as possible.

2. Water Down Your Lawn If You've Just Cut the Grass

If you have just cut the grass or trimmed the bushes near your driveway, you will want to spray them down with water in order to keep them from getting stuck inside the seal coating. This is because the smaller particles will be more prone to blowing around and possibly invading your sealcoat. Try to perform sealcoating on days when it is not particularly windy.

3. Try the Evening

You just need to make sure that the temperature for the sealcoating process is above fifty degrees in order for it to set properly. If the sun is blistering and there's no shade on your pavement, try doing the job in the very early morning or evening to keep the sun off of you. It will still be warm enough to dry the coat.

When I started looking for someone to build my dream home, I realized that I was going to need to be very picky about how I wanted things to proceed. Instead of just choosing anyone to do the work, I started realizing that I needed to work harder to find the perfect team of experts. I started looking everywhere for just the right people, and I was really impressed with one team that stood out to me. They built an absolutely breathtaking home for us, and I know that it might not have worked out that way had we worked with different people. This blog is all about interviewing contractors.
